9. Japan - (UK Cover)

The use of Japan as a theme has resulted in the most diverse collection of stories ever featured in an issue of 125 Magazine. With a theme this wide reaching and using a country that is so often referenced in film, TV and literature you might think you know what to expect from this issue, you would be wrong. The issue contains 312 pages of cutting edge new work that ranges from 21st century woodblock ‘paintings’ by Shinichi Maruyama to Christopher Griffith’s ants-eye-view of the Tokyo power grid and the unworldly collaboration between Finlay Mackay and Bill Turpin, which has resulted in the open-heart shot featured on the UK cover. Other contributors include Donald Christie, Kevin Westenberg, Felix Larher (international cover), Perry Curties, Kent Baker and many more with genres including landscape, fashion, portraiture, illustration and even a new screen grab technology. We also have an interview with Paul Smith who explains the secret to running a successful Japanese business from London. Once again we have produced 2 covers – a UK version and an international (export-only) version, both very different images but in keeping with our history of ground breaking cover choices.
