All histories and stories have been built on a male gaze. Even the history of women, women as an image, has been built on a male gaze. Women these days are rebuilding with their gaze and their art works a part of this histories and are also writing new ones. On this occasion, we’ve gather 15 women photographers from different periods, with different styles, that talk about different topics, with different gazes. But all of them talk and take pictures about life. Their own and other women’s life in different parts of the world and times. Adolescence, spaces within the home, what happens or is able to happen around a kitchen table and how women occupy the public space are some of the topics we can find. Dreams, frustrations, nightmares from the unconscious, confrontations between cultures; about how women have been largely ignored from history and treated as an object, and also about today’s women living in big cities, and women that live and work isolated from the world.
