In the Spring of 2002, Knee High Media, Japan began working on Papersky magazine. Since then Papersky has steadily amassed a sophisticated, well-informed and progressive readership drawn to the magazine’s distinctive celebration of a life of travel. Papersky is a record of the spirit of the places or Sky’s it passes beneath as passing through the pages of the magazine is a journey in itself. Papersky is a door to the world and each issue features unique stories and stunning photography which offers readers the sensation of travel, inspires them to actually make a trip and shows them a different way of doing it. Yosemite’ has inspired and influenced the life and art of generations- from the Native Americans to the millions of annual tourists. In addition some poetry by Gary Snyder, Papersky, selected six intriguing artists (Roger Minick, Tom Killion, Ansel Adams, David Hockney to name a few) from various generations and expressive mediums for each artist Papersky has selected a trail to convey the right mood or place of their artworks. Also the issue introduces a bit of climbing history looking at some of the most unique and adventurous athletes ever-the Stone Masters, plus a look at the mother of all climbing films, Fred Padula’s El Capitan (1968!, Canyon Cinema).
