Our love of print and paper grows ever stronger. Despite the distraction of online media and digital technologies, we are pulled back to the tactile delights of paper—our hearts beating faster at the sight of beautiful stationery.
Though we might have the ability to design our own line of greeting cards or handmake a birthday card on occasion, we’re inspired by the paper goods professionals—the illustrators, designers and entrepreneurs who have turned their passion into a career. In this special issue, we invited stationery and paper goods companies both big and (mostly) small to submit their work for inclusion in The UPPERCASE Stationery Guide. With 50 company profiles and Top Ten Tips from the industry leaders, we’re pleased to bring you this celebration of print and paper.
Other loose themes we explored in gathering content for this spring issue were interpretations of fragility, transparency and ephemerality. From the fleeting beauty of scent to the delicate mechanics of a butterfly wing to the wondrous properties of glass, we learn that things that might appear breakable or temporary are in fact powerfully enduring.
