It’s summer and time to play! In this issue of UPPERCASE, we explore the mark-making of sport, the aesthetic allure of baseball and the graphic appeal of blocks. We pay an extended visit to the wonderful world of children’s books (where donning a chicken suit is all in a day’s work). We zig and zag with a love of chevrons; we play with letters and words to create poetry and products; we eat pancakes for breakfast, lunch and supper and we let the green grass tickle our bare feet.
Play is definitely not relegated to our childhood; as creatives it should be part of our everyday lives. So please delight in the unexpected and indulge in distraction—it is very often by looking elsewhere that we find the inspiration needed for our work.
