With Isolde Woudstra working as a photographer and Rosa Mathijssen being a graphic designer, both artists are used to working on their own. Their collaboration for BEDFORD PAGES was quite a risky endeavour, since the two did not know each other before agreeing to join forces. As Isolde explains: “There is such a big chance you don’t have a connection with someone, but with Rosa it turned out great. Apparently we share the same kind of worldview.” A worldview that made this magazine the way it is. Without wanting to change anything, they portray a world where you on first hand see the beauty, but on a closer inspection you find something not quite right. With some of the artists featured in this magazine this “not quite right” is a bit more in your face than with others, but the interest in the human psych and its deeper, darker and often-whimsical sides is shown throughout the whole magazine.
