Utopia, celestial clouds and belly-button lint. Dumbo Feather issue 39 steps Into the Unknown with some of the greatest pioneers, scientists and explorers of our time.

Satish Kumar is the man behind one of the most innovative learning institutions in the world, Shumacher College. Founded by his deep belief in our capacity to create a world of compassion and sustainability. In keeping with this belief, Kate Ulman lives a life of deep connection to her family and her farm, Daylesford Organics. A few years ago she began a personal blog. Little did she know it would attract thousands of people a day who visit it to experience the wisdom and joy she shares describing her humble life in the country. From Oprah to Ellen, Simran Sethi is a woman on a mission—to tell the story of the environment in a way that it will resonate with everyone, not just the already converted. Unusual, enigmatic, full of quick-witted genius and warmth, Dr Karl’s curiosity about everything reminds us how little we know and how fun it can be to ask questions and explore the answers through science. By an accident of fate, Carlos Huber went from architect to perfumer. Discovering he had a nose for scents, and the stories that go with them, Carlos now creates perfumes that remind us how sensuality and memory play an important part in our experience and appreciation of the world.

Life is short. Get tired from being up all night with a great idea. Pass it on.
