Man About Town was originaly the brainchild of John Taylor, a British journalist in the 1950s. It is seen by many as Britain's first modern consumer 'style' title for men. The title went through numerous changes over the decades including several name changes before ceasing publication in 1968.

The name 'Man About Town' was later revived in the 2000s and continues to be produced by the publisher of Wonderland magazine.
