THE PROVENCE DRIFTWOOD CATALOGUE 2010 / 2011
Driftwood: 100-300€
Pierre Bergé and I wished for our selection to reflect our favourite pieces and for it to evolve with them, quality being the only criterion to guide us. Yves Saint Laurent
The fourth issue V of PROVENCE – issue V – introduces 55 unique driftwood sculptures from the beaches of "The California of Europe" - the Provence. V takes the form of an auction catalogue - a lose adoption of the catalogue-index published on the occasion of the 2009 auctioning of the Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé collection at the Grand Palais in Paris. Somewhere between artists editions made for magazines and merchandizing products circulating in the realm of an enterprise - those sculptures will become the heart of any important collection, embodying both fine craftsmanship and intellectual stimulation. As Harold Rosenberg in his 1952 essay "The American Action Painters" has put it: "The question of the driftwood is: Who found it?". Provence is an eight-issue magazine dedicated to hobbies.
Provence #V is: The PROVENCE Driftwood Collection 2010 / 2011.
