'Writing about music is like dancing about architecture', as the saying goes, but why shouldn't we dance about architecture?
Music draws on the places it originates from - in this issue, we have tried to explore this concept, from a traditional Hindu music festival in Indonesia, to Liverpool, the home of The Beatles, and the Mississippi, birthplace of the blues. We also examine the stereotype of 'African' music - looking at what people want African music to be, and how this often clashes with what it really is.
